I Hit The Wall...

I was doing so well, cranking along with nary a worry.  It looked like the challenge of 50k, one I started, was actually going to be a breeze. Yeah, until now.  I'm 31+k in and stuck.  I know where I want to go.  I can see it, but I'm getting bogged down in the details and can't seem to get there.

Damn.

Last night, in an hour, I only had added six hundred words to my count.  Today, I've been sitting at the computer for going on two hours and haven't managed to squeeze one hundred words out of my fingers.  I keep hovering them over the keyboard like it's an Ouija board; I just need to channel my inner writer and I'll be just fine.  Problem is, my inner writer seems to be on a vacation where NaNo is concerned.  Anyone wanna hover their hands over my Ouija board, I mean keyboard, with me?

It's such a great story so far. How can you hit the wall. It's like its been writing itself for the last 30k. When did you stop listening to the story and start trying to make it yours? Go back to that point and it will all be better.....says the one guy in the world who doesn't even write anymore ;)

equinfxi is my word verification. What the hell is an equinfxi and can it fix your equine story?

Wow. Ouija boards are for talking to the dead. Must be a BAD case of writers block...

sometimes outlines help me to stay on track, aside from that sometimes I just like to free write and then go back and edit/add details later. if all else fails....

*I am summoning the spirits of the writer's heaven... OH, Nathaniel Hawthorne, William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, please bestow your divine gifts upon our humble friend, and give her the strength to overcome her writers block...*

-hey, i never claimed not to be weird, lmao!

Deej, I'm thinking that maybe equinfxi can fix my equine story.

Bill, Trust me, my inner writer was D-E-A-D. I've resurrected her, thanks to the Ouija board.

Nate, I can't outline to save my life. I've tried. It's bad. Then I end up doing what Deejo accused me of - trying to make the story mine instead of the story's.

Oh, and Nate, thanks for the intonation - it must have helped the Ouija board find my inner writer.

keep going!! If I can plug along and write crap through my wall, you can too! We'll suck together! Who cares what the details are? Write sentences like "and then she magically figured out why she wanted to go to his house" and then get her to his house so that you can write what you have a clear picture of in your head! ... it's how I'm still going!

Monda on No Telling had a post a few days ago that had some good suggestions, at least I thought so. Hope it helps.

K, I love Monda. I might have missed that post. Good news to all who cared - I marginally made it past that little stumbling block. Am hoping to "finish" my 50K this weekend.
