Weigh-in Wednesday (AKA WTF? Wednesday)

First, let me just say I'm pissed as hell.  I've been going to the gym on a semi-regular basis; have increased my water intake; have decreased my Coke intake (though we all now know about the hot chocolate fiasco); and have reduced my portions; when I'm full I stop, even if there's just a bite or two left.  My DH, on the other hand, hasn't stepped on foot in the gym and has eaten a couple of salads.  By a couple of salads, that's what I mean, like, two.  That's what he's done for his weight loss.  Knowing that, here are the results of our weigh-in today...

That's right, all that freakin' work and the GunDiva's exactly the freakin' same!  Yes, the scale says 184.5#, which still leaves me with a BMI of 35.4, which is still freakin' obese. C'mon!  I'm working to lose weight and the scale's not. effing. budging.

So, here's the result of the RockCrawlinChef's no gym, two freakin salads week...

Yep.  No gym time, two goddamn salads and he's down to 195.0# with a BMI of 28.8, which is overweight, but not freakin' obese.  He's down 3.5#, a loss of 1.7%.  His BMI is down 1.4 points from obese to overweight.  Wanna know what really trips my trigger?  Last Wednesday, when I didn't post our weight?  It's because he was UP to 204#, so since last freakin' Wednesday he's lost 9#.  He's only down 3.5# from his original weigh-in, but 9# since last week.  Really?

I'm happy that he's been able to lose weight but pissed as hell that he hasn't had to to a damn thing to do it.  Effing men!

Damn! It'll happen. Just keep at it. Don't try and compare your weight loss with men, ever. Men lose weight differently. They are not genetically designed to retain fat for birthing babies and some such shit (according to those way smarter than me).

You are starting to feel better and THAT is what matters most!

Hang in there; Adrienzgirl is absolutely right. Men were created unequal. They start out with more muscle mass as a proportion of their body, hence have the ability to lose fat faster. Your body also must have gotten the signal that you were "starving it" (one coke per day?) and has decided to cling to every ounce. It can't do that much longer and then you will see better results. Aren't you the one who told me muscle weighs more than fat, hence maybe you are working out TOO hard at the start. The fact that you can even DO all that stuff you listed scares me: 3 reps of everything? You are going to die when the muscle soreness hits. Just ask my "powerhouse" (core) how much it likes getting up from the fitness ball today. Yah!

Dude-- I dont own a scale.. lol... If my jeans fit- OK. If my jeans are tight- not OK. If my jeans are LOOSE- well Hot Dayum and dance around! ;)

Dear Husband is the same way. I swear- he closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, and thinks "OK- drop five pounds" and BAM. By the time I can say "Hey cut that out you're cheating!" its gone. Well, not gone, cause it either finds me or the dog ....

It's just not fair. Actually, it's bullshit is what it is.

In college, I had a McDonald's in my dorm. Eating there two or three times a week earned me 15 extra pounds by the end of my first semester.

A guy friend ate there 5 DAYS A WEEK, never exercised and gained 2 pounds during his first YEAR.

Rat bastard.

Hang in there! (And slip some sugar in his meatloaf.)

Keep after it! You'll get there. . .but you might not want to compete with a man. My husband could eat an entire cake and not gain a stinky pound. Reading all these posts made me want a Coke too. But I had water instead to show some solidarity. It was surprisingly hard to not have a Coke. But the stuff is poison, really.

I agree with everyone else, men lose weight differently than we do.
Don't compare yourself to him, just focus on you.
You are doing amazing with the workouts and the weight will start dropping off soon enough!

Ohhh keep your chin up! You will probably have a loss this week. Sometimes it helps me, when the scale doesn't move (I've been here before, just never stuck to anything) to rearrange the food...eat a lunch at dinner and a dinner at lunch or something like that. Keep working out and keep working on it! Rest assured, even though the scale didn't move? You're healthier this week than last because of all that Gym work!

You all are wonderful and I know all of this, it's just been a hell week, so the scale bit was the straw that broke the camel's back.
